Alliance Battles Until the End Against Rattlers

May 26, 2024

The Montréal Alliance put in a courageous performance against the Saskatchewan Rattlers, but couldn't hold on to their lead, eventually losing 96-90. Despite the loss, there were many positives to take away as the team prepares for its May 30 home opener against the Edmonton Stingers.

Jordan Bowden Dazzles

Jordan Bowden was the undisputed star of the game, scoring 34 points with a remarkable 77% accuracy, including six three-pointers. From the very first moments of the game, Bowden set the pace and showed why he will be a key part of the Alliance this season. He almost took over the team's single-game scoring record, held by Dominic Green since 2022.

A First Half Dominated by the Alliance

The Alliance started the game with palpable energy and determination. By the end of the first quarter, the team was leading 23-17, thanks in particular to an in-form Bowden, who had already scored seven points. The Alliance carried this momentum into the second quarter, disrupting the Rattlers with solid defense and effective offense, bringing the score to 56-37 at halftime.

The Rattlers' Comeback

Despite Montréal's sizeable lead, the Rattlers managed to get back into the game in the third quarter. Under the leadership of Jalen Harris, who scored 19 of his 31 points in the third quarter, Saskatchewan gradually closed the gap. The Rattlers' defensive efforts and strategic adjustments brought the game back into balance before the final quarter.

An Intense Fourth Quarter

The fourth quarter was a real battle, with both teams fighting hard for every point. The Alliance showed admirable resilience, but the Rattlers found a way to take the lead just before the target score period. A crucial free throw by Elijah Harkless and a layup by Jalen Harris sealed the fate of the game, giving Saskatchewan the victory.

Looking Ahead: First Home Game

Despite the loss, the Alliance showed very encouraging signs for the rest of the season. Jordan Bowden's performance and the team's collective energy are solid foundations on which to build.
