May 8, 2024

Assistant coaches Charles Dubé-Brais, Ryan Thorne, Jeff Dosado, Vincent Plante and Quesly-Marie Noresias also return for 2024 season

The Montréal Alliance is pleased to announce the return of head coach Derrick Alston Sr. for the 2024 season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). This will be Alston Sr.’s second consecutive season at the helm of the team, having nearly doubled the number of wins of his predecessor during his first season as Alliance head coach.

Following the 2023 CEBL season, Alston Sr. was hired as head coach of the Los Mochis Pioneros in the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit, the largest league in western Mexico. The Alliance head coach previously held the positions of assistant coach of the College Park Skyhawks from 2022 to 2024 and head coach of the Westchester Knicks from 2019-2022, both in the NBA G League. Alston Sr. was also in charge of player development for the NBA’s Houston Rockets from 2012 to 2015.

Alston Sr. was selected 33rd overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1994 NBA Draft and played two seasons with the team (1994-1996) before signing with the Atlanta Hawks prior to the 1996-97 season.

The Alliance is also pleased to announce the return of assistant coaches Charles Dubé-Brais, Ryan Thorne, Jeff Dosado, Vincent Plante and Quesly-Marie Noresias for the 2024 season. Dubé-Brais, who served as head coach of the Ottawa BlackJacks during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, returns as both assistant general manger and assistant coach.

Dubé-Brais is currently head coach of NBA veteran DeMarcus Cousins’ Beer Leopards team in Taiwan alongside Alliance assistant coach Jeff Dosado, who is also assistant coach of the Taiwanese organization.

Ryan Thorne, who operates as head coach of the McGill men’s team during the CEBL offseason, will return as the team’s assistant coach for a third consecutive season.

Vincent Plante and Quesly-Marie Noresias will be in their second season with the Alliance.

The Montréal Alliance is gearing up to host the highly anticipated CEBL Championship Weekend from August 9 to 11 at the Verdun Auditorium. Fans can purchase their Tournament Packs and access all three games of the Championship Weekend now by visiting www.cebl.ca/cw24.
