My Future Leaders experience would be described as the seven wonders. Through the Montreal traffic, an hour late for your first job sounds crazy but you know what they say, African time brings the best moments. From meeting players such as Chris, if I had to describe Chris’s personality it would be calm but goofy. One moment with him and my awesome mentor Khadijah Jaffal (KJ), teaching the pronunciation of certain words in French for a TikTok trend using different camera angles. The 10 minutes with Chris trying to do the TikTok trend displays his value in the team. For example, he does not have the fear of working on areas he might have issues in, and his team spirt adds value during the game even though he was not playing today’s game, and his fashion taste is a 10/10. After that my mentor gave me the run-down of working in media. Majority of the work is done 24/7 by updating each players stats from their previous games, and the four quarters of today’s game as well as coming up with ideas to boost the players profile by doing social media challenges such as ‘this is me before the game, this is me after the game.’

My wonders experience continues as my classmates and I love the energy in the building. Speaking about the audience’s enthusiasm screaming at the top of their lungs praying for the home team to win today’s game.

Today’s game highlights: players Boucard, Hill, Ibrahim, and Ifejeh’s fast legwork led the team to a good start in the first and second quarter of the game. The energy displayed by all four players gave “I am here to play ball, no matter what the game is good or bad, just here for the experiences.”

My Future Leaders experience has shown me how much work has be done by the staff and players to keep basketball’s values alive. The audiences spending their time to support the seven wonders of basketball’s life.
