Jordan Bowden: A New Star Shines for the Alliance

May 26, 2024

The Montréal Alliance, seeking renewal for the 2024 season, has secured a significant acquisition in Jordan Bowden this offseason. A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Bowden has distinguished himself with an impressive career in the NBA G League, where he honed his skills and developed a keen competitive edge.

“Joel Anthony contacted my agent to suggest I come play here, and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the CEBL. It’s a very competitive league,” Bowden said at the team’s media day. Drawn by the opportunity to play in a league where intensity and level of play are constantly rising, Bowden did not hesitate to join the Alliance, driven by a strong desire for competition and success.

Bowden’s early games with the Alliance have confirmed his potential and talent. In his second game, he scored 34 points, flirting with the team’s single-game scoring record held by Dominic Green. This performance, remarkable for its efficiency and intensity, is a glimpse of what Bowden can bring to the team this season.

Bowden’s journey is marked by a steady ascent. After a notable college career with the Tennessee Volunteers, where he averaged 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in his final season, he continued his development in the G League. “The talent increases every year in the G League. The guys can obviously play in the NBA if given the opportunity – as myself,” he explained. This experience has been crucial in preparing him for the level physicality and intensity in the CEBL.

Bowden is not just a prolific scorer, he is also a formidable defender, aware of the importance of every possession and every defensive stop. “I believe defense is non-negotiable. You can always have a bad shooting night, but on defense, it’s something non-negotiable, something you must do every game,” he asserted. This mentality, combined with his offensive talent, makes him a complete player capable of making a difference on both ends of the court.

At media day, Bowden also share his thoughts on what fans can expect from him this season. “A lot of energy. A lot of points. I shoot the ball well, but I also love to defend. I love getting easy baskets in transition, and I am the ultimate competitor. I love competition and I love winning. That’s what I will bring to this team,” he declared with conviction.

His performances in the first two games of the season already show the impact he can have on the team. Despite initial losses, his contribution in terms of points and energy on the court are positive elements on which the Alliance can build. Bowden, with his 34 points against the Saskatchewan Rattlers, demonstrated that he could elevate his game in crucial moments and be a leader for his teammates.

At just 27 years old, Bowden is in his prime and has clear ambitions. Although he is fully focused on the Alliance, he does not hide his aspirations of playing in the NBA. “Of course, I think being here will help me along the way. I feel ready if the opportunity to play in the NBA comes. I think last season (at College Park) set me on the right path. But I am ready for any opportunity. I’ve done the work and I believe in myself,” he stated.

Jordan Bowden is undoubtedly a rising star for the Montréal Alliance. With his talent, determination, and competitive spirit, he is ready to lead the team to success this season. Fans can expect spectacular performances and boundless energy on the court.
