The Montréal Alliance (0-3) delivered a gritty performance but ultimately succumbed to the Edmonton Stingers (3-0) by a score of 81-77. Davion Warren of the Edmonton Stingers scored 30 points in the win.
The game started with great intensity from both sides, with both teams trading baskets. The Alliance took a notable lead thanks to a 7-0 run at the end of the first quarter, finishing with a score of 25-18. Chris Smith led the Alliance’s offense with nine points, hitting two three-pointers.
The Alliance’s defense was remarkable in the first half, constantly pressuring the Stingers, forcing turnovers, and capitalizing in transition. This defensive intensity allowed Montréal to lead 49-43 at halftime.
However, Edmonton responded in the third quarter. The Stingers adjusted their game, improving their three-point shooting, reducing the Alliance’s lead to just two points before entering the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, both teams engaged in a relentless battle. With the target score set at 80, Davion Warren hit a crucial three-pointer to give the Stingers the lead. Despite a strong response from Chris Smith with a dunk and a foul, Edmonton won the game thanks to another dunk from Warren.
Despite this defeat, the Alliance can take pride in some remarkable individual performances. Ahmed Hill made history by becoming the first player in the CEBL to reach 1,000 regular-season points. Alain Louis also shone by dishing out 13 assists, the second-highest total ever recorded in a CEBL regular season. Jaden Edwards finished the game with 19 points and seven rebounds.
