Verdun Auditorium to remain home of professional basketball team through 2026

The Montréal Alliance and the Borough of Verdun today announced the extension of their partnership, confirming that the Verdun Auditorium will remain the home of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) team for the next two seasons, through December 31, 2026. This agreement strengthens a partnership established since the franchise's first season in 2022.

The Verdun Auditorium has served the population, sports partners, and event promoters since 1939. The Scotty Bowman space, with a capacity of 3,500, is distinguished by its atmosphere, heritage features, and proximity to public transit. By offering such convenience in the heart of the city, the Auditorium remains a valuable pillar of the metropolis's cultural and sports ecosystems, meeting the essential needs of Montréal's population. Fully modernized and accessible, it provides an optimal experience for both athletes and spectators.

"The Verdun Auditorium has become more than just an arena - it's the foundation of our organization," states Jo-Annie Charbonneau, President of the Montréal Alliance. "Its central location and unique atmosphere make it an ideal venue for professional basketball."

"The Borough is delighted to renew the agreement with the Montréal Alliance at the Verdun Auditorium," mentions Marie-Andrée Mauger, Mayor of Verdun. "This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to promoting sport and offering quality events to our community. Over the years, the Verdun Auditorium has developed an offering to meet the diverse needs of the population and partner organizations. During Verdun's 150th anniversary in 2025, the Alliance has some exciting surprises in store. We look forward to seeing the community energized by the games and supporting this local team."

In 2025, the Alliance will present its longest season to date with 12 home games. Located near Wellington Street, Verdun Beach, and numerous local attractions, the Verdun Auditorium stands as a premier destination for the approximately 42,000 fans expected throughout the season. Its accessibility, whether by public transit, bicycle, or car, makes it an ideal gathering place.

The year 2025 marks Verdun's 150th anniversary, which the Montréal Alliance will celebrate with a special game on July 6, 2025. As part of this new agreement, the organization is intensifying its community involvement in the Borough, including replacing basketball nets in neighborhood parks and increasing sports clinics and school visits.

The Verdun Auditorium, which successfully hosted the 2024 CEBL Championship Weekend, continues its legacy as a cornerstone of professional basketball in Montréal.
